Frequently Asked Questions

What is a ‘Bach’?

This is a question we are often asked here at Leisurebuilt and one we struggle to answer in a concise way! A ‘Bach’ is what ever you want it to be really, it can be a shack by the beach, it can be a multi million dollar holiday home, it can be a caravan on a site that you visit regularly, it can be a bus that you travel the country in, or it can be your Leisurebuilt. There are a huge range of ‘things’ that people refer to as a ‘Bach’. Some are buildings, some are caravans, some are vehicles. Perhaps a ‘Bach’ is not a material item at all. Perhaps instead it is an emotion or feeling that people link to a particular time, place or event. A ‘Bach’ is somewhere people stay to meet with family and friends, spend quality time, relax, holiday, have fun, enjoy retirement in and probably, most importantly, to create memories.

Whatever your definition of a ‘Bach’ is, at Leisurebuilt we build units that people enjoy using for a wide variety of purposes and to us, that makes them a ‘Bach’ in addition to what ever else they may be called!

Are there any restrictions on what you can build?
While there are restrictions on the size of a Leisurebuilt unit, our Duplex (and very recently Triplex) design concept allows us to provide solutions of any size and shape. The largest design we have created to date is in excess of 80 sqm (850 square feet)

Will I need a Building Permit?
In most cases, you will not need a building permit because Leisurebuilt manufactures caravans. While in some cases our caravans are larger than normal, we conform to the Camping Ground regulations and we have been approved by the Land Transport Authority for most of our products to be considered as trailers with registrations and warrants of fitness. In some instances, however, a building permit will be necessary but we can advise you on this and we will coordinate with your local authority on your behalf.

Can you build to our specifications?
Yes, we can! In fact, we always build to our customers specifications so that you get exactly what you want. We provide a free design service and can advice on budgets and options so that what you want is also what you can afford.

How many bedrooms can we have?
You can have as many bedrooms as your space and your budget permits because the only design restrictions we have are based on these two factors. Let us know what you want and we can send you plans of similar units built to date as a basis for your design.

How much does a Leisurebuilt unit usually cost?
The price of each Leisurebuilt unit varies as this would depend on its size and client specifications. A general price range for each of our product types is listed under "Our Products" can serve as a guide. As we build to order, we provide an itemised quotation with each plan which will show you how the cost of the unit is made up. We do have a "Shell Price List" which details how much each open plan shell will cost and this will include flooring, delivery and site set-up within 160 km of our factory, plus the specified number of windows, lights and power points for the size of the unit. Email us for more information.

What colours can you do?
We can construct in any of the standard Colour Steel colours, however, the vast majority of our production uses a colour called Titania which utilizes an "off-white" hue as the base colour and a contrasting colour is then used for the joineries and the roof.

Where can I view your products?
As we design and build to order we do not have stock on hand for viewing. We do, however, always have a number of units in various stages of construction at the Factory and we welcome visitors by appointment. The best places to view Leisurebuilt units are at Motor Camps where the vast majority of our production still ends up or at one of our dealers (See Useful Links Page).

Will I have to wait for delivery?

Since we will only build according to your specifications and on your go-signal, you may have to wait from 90 to 120 days from the time you have signed the contract before the unit is ready for delivery. This time frame, however, can vary and we will keep you up to date on any changes in production and delivery schedule.

Small annexes and sleepout units can be completed in a shorter period of time.
